JSA Programs

Student Diversity
JSA is a year-round school currently admitting students between the ages of 3 and 18 and offers the following student programs:

Primary Education Program (PEP):
This program serves our elementary age population with focus on significant 1:1 teacher/student programs with a blend of group socialization through circle time and academic groups. In addition, enrichment programs are designed to specifically challenge and motivate our students to find life-long pursuits by participating in both group and individual lessons in roller-blading, karate, piano and art/music therapy.

Secondary Education Program (SEP):
This program serves students who are middle-school age and working on academic programs. Some of our SEP students participate in a dual enrollment that allows them to participate in classrooms with typical peers and academics.

High School/Transition Program (HEP):
This program serves students who are middle to high-school age who are in transition from academic programs to vocational trade.

Clinic Education Program (CEP):
JSA Clinic will serve families in many respects. Many younger children between the ages of 3 and 5 are unable to tolerate a full school day and would benefit from a shorter 2-3 hours per day schedule. Under these circumstances, this may be a family's first exposure to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Other children would benefit from additional hours following their regular school day. These hours would typically be intensive learning times. Clinic hours will likely lead to regular enrollment for many children if the methodologies are successful with a child.

All Programs:
In all Student Education Programs, a range in levels of ability exists based on the mix of student skill sets. JSA creates every opportunity to allow students to participate both within and outside their functioning level. Our student roster reflects both verbal and non-verbal students who utilize various teaching methods and augmentative programs.

Core educational focus is around Applied Behavior Analysis and more specifically Verbal Behavior utilizing the protocol of Drs. Sunberg and Partington. Alternative educational programs used are Rapid Prompting Method, American Sign Language, Picture Exchange System (picture scheduling only), and augmentative technology as needed for communication.

Most students participate in weekly sessions with Speech and Occupational Therapists who come to JSA and work 1:1 with our students. The number of sessions for each student is based on need however; most students will receive 2 one-hour sessions per week for Occupational Therapy and 2-3 one-hour sessions per week for Speech.

Non-Discriminatory Enrollment Policy
JSA does not discriminate on the basis of any race, color, national, ethnic origin or gender in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, and scholarship programs, athletic and other school-administered programs. All students have the same rights with regard to privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
