Hiring Process

Once you have submitted a resume, our employment team will review it and notify you via e-mail if you have been selected to participate in the next step of the recruiting process.

Applicants who are invited to participate in the recruitment process can expect an initial interview screening with a member of our administrative department. If recommended, additional interviews with members of both administration and and parents will be scheduled. These may be individual and/or group interviews. Jacksonville School for Autism (JSA) is unique in that the hiring process is shared with parents and provides a 2-way process for teachers to interview with prospective parents and meet student's that you will be hired to teach. All teachers work as self-employed/independent contractors of JSA. At this time, JSA does not employ any teachers on payroll. Each teacher will receive a 1099-MISC report for tax reporting purposes each year.

Requirements

Requirements and timing may vary each year however at a minimum a pre-employment screening will be conducted. Individual job descriptions may vary by required experience, licenses, degrees or certifications. All employees are required to:

  • State of Florida requires JSA to submit electronic fingerprints for all individuals working with students to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and obtain a criminal background clearance prior to working with students at JSA.
  • Employment at JSA requires a Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree.
  • Non-degreed applicants may be considered if they possess significant experience in working with children with autism. This experience must be documented and will be confirmed during the interview process.
